Fishing in the lakes Lillsandsjön and Storsandsjön

Storsandsjön is beautifully situated in Vindeln Municipality and covers an impressive 680 hectares. The lake offers excellent fishing, with species including perch, pike, European whitefish, roach, burbot, brown trout and the more recently established grayling. It is an attractive destination for both experienced anglers and beginners. Boats are available to hire or borrow, making it easier to explore the lake’s fishing spots. Caravan pitches are also available by the village hall for visitors wishing to stay overnight.


Fish species in Storsandsjön:
Storsandsjön is home to a wide variety of fish. Anglers may catch large perch weighing more than one kilogram, as well as pike, European whitefish, roach and burbot.

Brown trout have been stocked on several occasions, and specimens weighing more than five kilograms have been caught. Grayling have also recently spread into Storsandsjön from Lillsandsjön, adding another species to the area’s fishing opportunities.

Fish species in Lillsandsjön:
Perch and pike are plentiful within the Lillsandsjön fishery conservation area. Lake-spawning grayling have also been introduced in recent years.

To give the grayling population an opportunity to become established and reproduce, the minimum permitted size for keeping a grayling is 30 centimetres. Fishing is permitted with hand-held tackle only.

In addition to Lillsandsjön and Storsandsjön, the area contains several smaller forest lakes, mainly in its southern section. Brown trout is the only fish species found in Nättjärn.

Fishing by boat:
Due to the size of the lakes, fishing from a boat is recommended. Boats are available to hire or borrow in the village, making it easier to reach and explore the best fishing spots.

Places to stay:
Caravan pitches with electrical hook-ups and access to water are available by the village hall for visitors wishing to stay longer.
