Aurora Isle – An Island All to Yourself
Where silence floats on water and the sky touches your soul
Just you, the silence, the sky – and the lake that holds it all.
Aurora Isle is a unique, secluded retreat surrounded by the stunning scenery of Västerbotten. On this private island, the entire environment is yours alone. From the wood-fired sauna and the rustic cabin to the mirror-still waters and the quiet forest around you. It is a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and let nature set the pace.
The authentic Swedish cabin combines rustic charm with essential comforts. Warm wooden interiors, a traditional wood-burning stove, and windows that frame endless lake views create an atmosphere of timeless calm. Here, you live completely off-grid, with solar-powered lighting and a solar-driven refrigerator.
The wood-fired sauna becomes a natural part of the experience. Warm your body, step outside, and let the crisp air cool you as you gaze out over the water. As darkness falls, the sky creates its own show. In autumn, the forests glow in gold and copper, and in winter, you may be lucky enough to see the northern lights dance across the island.

Drive out of Umeå on the E12 towards Lycksele. Follow the E12 all the way past Tegsnäset. As you approach Norrfors/Norrmek, you will see an exit toward Kussjö, signposted, and the same exit also leads to Granö Golf Course. Turn right toward Kussjö. Continue straight for about 6 km until you reach Kussjö 44. Park here – from this point, a boat will take you out to the island, or you can continue on foot/kick-sled in winter.
