Description

The group first met at the Korsholm Music Festival and enjoyed playing together so much that they later took their name from the festival. As the repertoire for this type of ensemble is limited, they early on began exploring alternative music to perform and quickly found inspiration in folk music. Since its founding, the ensemble has performed regularly, mainly in Finland, and thrives in the space between classical and rhythmic music. They have a dynamic playing style and enjoy music that is virtuosic and challenging.

For their concert at Sjungaregården, the ensemble has prepared a program featuring music by Bernhard Crusell (1775–1838), the Finnish clarinet virtuoso who spent much of his life at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, the Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki, as well as Nordic folk music in modern arrangements for the ensemble.

The ensemble consists of Hugo Olsson (clarinet), Leena-Kaisa Sandberg (violin), Viktor Olaus Nygård (viola) and Tuomas Roos (cello).
